IWSI Institute 30th Reunion - June 17, 2010
The 30th Reunion IWSI Institute, "What We've Learned," with an amazing selection of workshops is taking place in Calistoga, California at Mountain Home Ranch from Thursday, June 17 to departure on Tuesday morning, June 22. In addition to our workshops, there is hiking, swimming, qi gong, picnicking, an excursion to Calistoga, a book and craft sale, and many fabulous evening programs.
Early registration will assure you a place in the workshops you want and will also assure you the type of housing you prefer. The registration fee is $100 and will be refunded up until January 15, 2010.

Friday, June 18
Morning workshop-- Sarah Pearlman-- Aging as an observing, experiencing and contemplative adventure. Our focus will be on our different selves from the year when we first began to travel with IWSI until the present. Although optional, participants will be asked to write and share a poem that compares our selves at different ages.
Afternoon workshop-- Sara Spaulding-Phillips -- Two hours creating small treasures with mosaic pieces of glass, shards of pottery on river stones from Sonoma County, to take home or give away, and to create a "Last Words" ritual for all of us on Summer Solstice, talking story and writing as we create
Evening -- Women in Community on What We've Learned
Saturday, June 19
Morning workshop -- Susan Carter --We will discuss mirrors -- from the earliest to modern-day. Through guided meditation, individual and group exercises, powerpoint and discussion we will deepen our understanding of the mirror and its potential as a tool in women's empowerment.
Afternoon workshop -- lunch and excursion to Calistoga
Evening workshop -- Emily Stoper -- a lesson in improv theater -- demonstrations, an explanation of the principles, a series of improv games and genres to be performed by volunteer participants
Sunday, June 20
Morning workshop -- Judy Shotten -- the myths relating to older women's sexuality -- how ageism has acted to disenfranchise and neuter us. How our sexuality can become richer, more complex, an expression of closeness, commitment, comfort, sensuality and sometimes spirituality
Afternoon workshop -- Hilda Demsky --participants will in teams trace each other's silhouette, each participant will fill her own silhouette with words and images that reflect her personal interests and positive attributes, also using photos and symbols. Demonstration of facial features, lettering, shading

Monday, June 21
Morning workshop -- Patrice Wynne --After closing my beloved Berkeley bookstore, GAIA, I moved to San Miguel de Allende. I discovered the power of place to heal sadness and recover the part of my self lost. We will explore the possibilities in changing direction mid-course into a radical new way of living and loving, being and growing by taking big leaps like moving to another country!
Afternoon workshop -- Mara Keller -- This workshop will introduce people to Rosen touch and Rosen movement, and involves non-intrusive hands-on touch and easy movements. Rosen Movement is a series of physical movements to music which open the breathing, move and lubricate the joints, stretch and strengthen the muscles, and provide fuller range of motion -- in our bodies, minds, and spirits. This work can be done by oneself, in pairs, and in circles

There are several types of housing (almost all shared) at Mountain Home Ranch. Since the types and style of rooms vary, you will need to let us know early if you have any preferences!!! Room rates are based on double occupancy -- singles are approximately 75% higher.
8 Lodge Rooms --$46 per night per person
4 rooms have 1 king bed, 1 additional bed; 4 rooms have 1 double bed
7 Cottages, some with kitchens --$61 per night per person
• 3 single cottages -- 1 king bed, 1 double futon
• 1 single cottage -- 2 king beds
• 3 double room cottages -- king or queen in one room, king or futon and 2 singles in other
5 Cabins --$46 per night per person (full bath)
• 1 king, l double
• 1 double, 3 singles
• 2 cabins -- 1 queen, 1 double, 4 singles
• 1 queen, 5 singles
4 Rustics --$32 per person, per night (toilet in room, shared shower house)

Meals
I have enjoyed several meals at Mountain Home Ranch -- the food is home-made and home baked. The kitchen can adapt to special dietary needs.
IWSI will have group dinners (required) and suggests breakfasts (optional). IWSI will provide fix-it-yourself sandwich lunches and all the wine you can drink. Here are sample menus from MHR:
• Breakfast: eggs, potatoes, bagels, fresh fruit, fresh baked items, hot and cold cereal, juice, coffee, tea -- $13
• Dinner:salad, fresh vegetables, starch, fish or chicken or pasta, dessert, coffee, tea -- $22
